Appreciate / Panda_1

"Project Panda" was the working name for the ongoing rebranding work done for the start-up Appreciate.

Below is a snapshot – samples of directions taken midway through the process – it’s the first part of a 2-part project, the second part can be found here: Panda Part 2.

Appreciate is/was an app/service based on the idea of putting aftermarket value on items that you buy – focusing on quality over quantity. Doing this would initially involve having a “digital twin” (NFT counterpart) of every item a customer buys.

Background:
Juggling a couple roles (PM and designer) while leading a small team with the goal of rebranding a company in it's infancy stage. The ideology, values and even the core product was still being solidified. Despite very little to work with, the revamping of the brand was consistently cited as a priority.
The few tangible pieces of information we utilized were:
  • Initially catering to consumers of luxury fashion
  • Reinforcement of quality over quantity
  • Recently acquired domain "appreciate.it"
Appended to the luxury fashion aspect of the project was the use of pattern. Something simple that would optically connect to the luxury aesthetic would be a mark that could easily double as a visual motif. We stayed cognizant of this througout the process. Examples below: LV, Burberry, Fendi, YSL.
I put together a simplified schedule starting with 3 weeks of "anything-goes" sketching.
